About Us

Pasitos was founded by Maestra Lorena in 2025 with a mission to offer dance and music classes focused on Mexican cultural enrichment. We cater to children from age 1 to age 17. No experience is necessary. Join us as we engage in fun classes and build a community centered on culture and heritage.

Maestra Tatyana

Maestra Tatyana began dancing with Ballet Folklorico Nube de Oro at the age of 7, and has also trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz, and hip-hop.  She continued her passion for folklorico and other dance styles at Saint Mary’s College of California, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology, with a double minor in Ethnic Studies and Latin Dance. She was an active member of Ballet Folklorico Guadalupano and performed in multiple Saint Mary’s Dance Company showcases. She has worked in early childhood education for seven years and currently works for the California Department of Social Services.  She is honored to serve as an Instructor for Pasitos Dance and Music Academy where she plans to focus on building strong cultural pride and empowering young dancers to grow and shine on stage.

Maestro Josué

Maestro Josué is a multifaceted performer, choreographer and dance advocate. His dance journey started at 4 years old where he learned Mexican Folkloric dance alongside his older siblings. Josué has since expanded into a variety of dance genres including West African, Aztec, Ballet, and Contemporary. He is a recent Alumni from CSU-Sacramento with a degree in Dance and Ethnic Studies. Josué has collaborated with various Folklórico dance companies in the Greater Sacramento area, such as Ballet Folklórico Nube de Oro, Calidanza, and Proyecto Folklórico. He is absolutely excited to return again as maestro for Pasitos!

Maestra Lorena

Maestra Lorena is the founder and director of Pasitos Dance and Music Academy. She is a Sacramento native who grew up dancing Mexican Folklórico in many local dance companies for over 30 years. She is also an experienced musician who plays the accordion with Los Laguneros, a norteño-style family band. She and her husband are raising 3 children with the goal of connecting them to their Mexican roots and providing them with a rich cultural experience as they grow up in the diverse Sacramento region. This project is inspired by their children and they hope to encourage other like-minded families to join the fun.
